About Dance du Soleil
Dance du Soleil Fusion Belly Dance is a captivating and unique dance style featuring movements of bellydance mixed with jazz, lyrical jazz and ballet.
A Legacy: Dance du Soleil curriculum was designed in 2002 by Leyla Soleil and Andrea Love. We have had the immense honor of instructing many beginner through professional level dancers to achieve their dreams for over 20 years!
Our Style: We are technicians and strive to achieve excellence in dance. Students will get a full body experience in our classes, learning not only belly dance isolations and movement, but also footwork patterns, turns, kicks, and more. We believe it is imperative that dancers tune their instrument (their bodies) and therefore, it’s not unusual for us to add dance conditioning into our classes. And be prepared for a lot of stretching!
3 Generations- We are a mother-daughter team! Babette Soleil grew up in the biz accompanying her mom, Leyla Soleil, to gigs all through her childhood. Even more fun- Leyla’s mom was also a belly dancer!!
About the Jazz: Babette Soleil was a professional cheerleader for the Atlanta Blaze, a professional lacrosse team (now retired). Think DCC for belly dancers and get ready to bring it!
Dance du Soleil is honored to partner with Atlanta Fusion Dance in offering classes to Atlanta dancers.
Who should take our classes- We have coached students of all levels, however most dancers will benefit from having some previous experience under their belt. It does not have to be belly dance. It could be ballet, jazz or even other movement arts like yoga and Pilates. If you’re not sure you can always try a class or message Leyla at 404-594-4197 to discuss.
Dance du Soleil is currently looking for intermediate through professional level dancers to perform with us at Essence of Bellydance, one of the top bellydance events in the US!
Dancers with experience in classical dance styles are encouraged to audition, even if they have no prior belly dance experience. Because we will be doing a deep dive over the summer, and leading up to the performance, there is time learn!
